Lithuanian real estate development association announced the winners of real estate project‘s competition “For sustainable development”, informs “Verslo Žinios”. In the commercial-public project category the winners were buildings in the “EIKA” and “Achema” joint venture “Sea Gate”. This project is being developed by “Klaipėda Ship Repair” SC.
The best projects were selected in several categories: residential, commercial and multifunctional projects.
Projects were evaluated according to the following criteria: benefits for the city and its residents, architectural, urban quality of the object and the convenience for users.
“All year we talk about sustainable development that is why we wanted to promote this idea by announcing a competition”, says Dalia Bardauskienė, the head of Lithuanian real estate development association.
According to her, real estate projects need to be evaluated not only according to architecture and construction quality, but also according to what added value and benefits they create for a city and its residents.
“I am glad that the expert commission positively evaluated our three year-hard-work, even though it is only the beginning of a huge project that will open the Baltic Sea to the residents of Klaipėda and the Klaipėda city – to the Baltic Sea” – comments Mr. Alvydas Butkus, director general of the “Klaipėda Ship Repair”.
The project evaluation committee consisted of architects, urbanists, journalists, representatives of Ministry of the Environment as well as representatives of consumer organizations. 21 project was subject to evaluation. This year only the members of Lithuanian real estate development association could participate in the competition.
